Dust Collective Publishing Prize - Winner
January 27, 2025Cristina Velásquez is the winner of the Dust Collective Publishing Prize.
“We are so pleased to announce Cristina Velásquez as the recipient of the first Dust Publishing Prize. @cristinavelasquezstudio
Her project, “Family Bestiary” is a reinterpretation of her family album and personal archive, examining intersections of memory, identity, and imagination through a lens that is both playful and introspective.
Cristina’s work struck us as unique, thoughtful, and complicated. It is literally and conceptually layered.
We were also impressed by Cristina’s dedication to book arts and publishing through her own project, @newpoeticsoflabor . I’m so looking forward to working with her and seeing what will become of this fabulous body of work.
And, to everyone who submitted to the prize, Thank You. Only being able to choose one winner was a difficult reality from the beginning. It was our first time offering something like this, and I had no idea what the interest or turnout would be. Well, it seems there’s actually a lot of you - over 200 - who would consider Dust Collective as a home for your work. That means so much to me, and gives me a new idea of the scope of work and wonderful people who are out there.”
